BROOKLYN Chocolate Factory - Loft I

Divide and conquer  |  1500 SQUARE  FEET

A former chocolate factory divided and converted into residential units presented particular structural challenges throughout this loft space. In Phase 1 of the transformation, BLYTHE DESIGN STUDIO used handsome repurposed wood supported by industrial strength steel frames to suspend elegant open-flight floating stairs along the wall up to the upper loft level. In Phase 2, a platform which features a light-friendly translucent floor was suspended over the kitchen counter area for a desk and home office. Wood and steel were used again to construct the platform maintaining a consistent industrial-luxe look throughout the loft.
